1840 Manor House Wedding | An Elegant Spring Celebration in Akron, Ohio

Soft spring light, blooming lilacs throughout the property, and a beautiful outdoor ceremony came together for the most perfect day for Stoney and Taylor’s 1840 Manor House wedding. Tucked away in Akron, Ohio, 1840 Manor House is an amazing and quaint little wedding venue with historic character, natural beauty, and spaces designed to host a wedding day from start to finish!

A Beautiful Spring Wedding at 1840 Manor House

Spring weddings in Northeast Ohio have become some of my favorites! I absolutely love all the florals in bloom that provide so many gorgeous layers and extra beauty to your photos, and the soft pastel wedding color palettes of spring have my heart!

When I arrived at 1840 Manor House for Stoney and Taylor’s wedding day, I was so impressed with the beauty of the property… not just the stunning buildings, but the spring flowers blooming everywhere- lilacs throughout the property and peonies just beginning to open! There was so much charm and character everywhere I looked!

Taylor and Stoney’s Day

One of my favorite parts about 1840 Manor House is the variety of spaces available throughout the property. The bridal suite upstairs in the historic Manor House has beautiful light and is such a great space for capturing getting ready photos and bridal portraits and provides a beautiful setting for the beginning of the day. Taylor and her girls were so effortlessly beautiful and the space matched their elegance. Downstairs in the Manor House, there is an additional elevated space for the guys to get ready, and I love the variety and space the two front porches provided!

The outdoor ceremony space tucked away on the back of the property was such a hidden gem! Outdoor ceremonies spaces, particularly wooded settings, are often a tricky set up and oriented in a ways that might not be the most flattering for lighting, but this space was such a pleasant surprise! It has amazing lighting with the sun shining through backlighting the couple and the ceremony setup which created the perfect soft glow for Stoney & Taylor’s spring wedding! As insignificant of a detail as ceremony lighting might seem, it’s something I talk to my couples about and educate them on when discussing outdoor ceremony setups, because the backlit ceremonies provide flattering and even light rather than creating harsh shadows or distracting patterns of splotchy light across the couple.

After the ceremony, guests wandered over to cocktail hour on the back lawn while we explored the property for portraits. As an Akron wedding photographer, I love venues like 1840 Manor House that provide so many portrait opportunities! The beautiful wooded ceremony space was perfect for Stoney & Taylor’s family photos, and the rest of the property provided so much variety for bridal party portraits and for photos of Stoney and Taylor! The different venue buildings were stunning backdrops for portraits as well as the gorgeous lilacs that were so dreamy and romantic in their photos!

The evening then flowed into the reception where Taylor and Stoney had the perfect balance of elegant and modern with whimsical and feminine pink decor. I also loved how these two took a special moment after their cake cutting to take a slice to Taylor’s grandma and sing Happy Birthday to her! It was so sweet!

Soft, Romantic Spring Wedding Details

Taylor’s wedding style was the perfect balance of romantic, feminine, and refined. Her gown was absolutely stunning, with a removable statement bow train that created two beautiful bridal looks throughout the day. Paired with her cathedral length veil, Taylor was an absolute vision!

The floral design and reception decor by Molly Taylor & Co. was so incredibly lush, romantic, and chic. White blooms, blush pink florals, hydrangeas, delicate greenery, and romantic textures filled the ceremony and reception spaces, brought Taylor’s “feminine and pink” vision to life! The bridesmaids wore soft pastel pink dresses while the groomsmen wore classic black suits. The combination of the spring florals, soft color palette, and sophisticated details made for an incredibly beautiful day for these two!

As beautiful as all the decor and florals were, some of the most precious moments were of Taylor and Stoney’s sweet little daughter Clara with the two of them! Seeing her mom dressed up like a princess for the first time, silly moments with her dad, and walking down the aisle as the flower girl were so incredibly special… I know growing up, this is a day she will look back on the photos at her mom and dad’s fairytale wedding day!

Stoney and Taylor’s wedding was filled with so many special moments. As the evening approached, a spring storm rolled through, but after their first dances the skies began to clear again. When I stepped outside, the most beautiful double rainbow appeared in the sky, and Taylor and Stoney got to take time to step outside and enjoy this little miracle. It made for the most perfect and memorable end to their wedding day!
